A program geared toward students who were unsuccessful in traditional classrooms that was canceled due to funding challenges will continue to be offered to students this school year.
After an audit denied funding for about 100 students enrolled in a Battle Creek Public Schools virtual learning program last year, the Board of Education decided not to fund the program for the 2010-2011 school year. The program allowed students to take online courses, work from home and attend community-based sites for support.
But local students will still be able to enroll in virtual courses and receive laptops for their coursework through Berrien Springs Public Schools, said Erv Brinker, chief executive officer of Summit Pointe.
